The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Ramesh Jha Mahila College is dedicated to the all-round development of student personality through community service. Operating under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, our NSS unit instils a spirit of voluntary work among students and youth in consonance with the established democratic traditions and values.

The motto of NSS — "Not Me But You" — reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-lessness and devotion to social welfare. Through camps, drives, and outreach programmes, NSS volunteers at RJMC actively contribute to the upliftment of rural and underprivileged communities across Koshi Division.

Core Focus Areas

What We Do

Community Service

Volunteers engage with rural communities for infrastructure improvement, cleanliness, and welfare activities under Gram Seva programmes.

Health & Hygiene

Organising health check-up camps, blood donation drives, and hygiene awareness workshops in partnership with local hospitals and PHCs.

Education & Literacy

Running literacy drives and remedial coaching for underprivileged children in surrounding villages, bridging the education gap in Koshi Division.

Environment & Ecology

Tree-plantation drives, plastic-free campus campaigns, and river-bank clean-up initiatives under Swachh Bharat and Green India missions.

Key Activities & Programmes

How We Serve
Society

Regular Activities (120 Hours)

Each volunteer completes 120 hours of regular activities per year including campus programmes, awareness camps, cultural events, and social service visits.

Special Camp (120 Hours)

A 7-day residential special camp is organised every year in an adopted village, focusing on rural development, sanitation, and community welfare.

Blood Donation Drives

In collaboration with Saharsa District Hospital, RJMC NSS volunteers regularly organise blood donation camps, contributing hundreds of units annually.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Cleanliness drives are conducted in and around the campus, neighbouring localities, and rural areas in alignment with the national Swachh Bharat mission.

Voter Awareness & Digital Literacy

NSS volunteers spread electoral awareness and conduct digital literacy sessions in villages to empower youth, women, and senior citizens.

Disaster Preparedness & Relief

Volunteers are trained in first aid and disaster response, and actively assist in flood relief and rehabilitation activities during calamities in Koshi region.
