About the Cell

A Safe Space for

The Women Harassment Cell (Internal Complaints Committee) at Ramesh Jha Mahila College is constituted in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and the directives of the University Grants Commission. The Cell is committed to providing every woman on campus — student, faculty, or staff — a safe, secure, and dignified environment.

The Cell operates with strict confidentiality and ensures timely, impartial, and sensitive handling of every complaint. It also conducts regular awareness workshops, sensitisation programmes, and gender-equity drives to foster a culture of respect and zero tolerance for any form of harassment, discrimination, or misconduct on campus.

Complaint Registration & Inquiry

Receiving written complaints of sexual harassment and conducting a time-bound, impartial inquiry as per the POSH Act, 2013 guidelines.

Conciliation & Settlement

Facilitating conciliation between parties at the aggrieved person's request before initiating a formal inquiry, ensuring a sensitive resolution.

Awareness & Sensitisation

Organising workshops, seminars, and orientation programmes to educate students, faculty, and staff on gender rights and anti-harassment policies.

Interim Relief Measures

Recommending interim measures such as seat transfer, leave, or restraining orders to protect the aggrieved person during the inquiry process.

Counselling & Support

Providing professional counselling and emotional support services to complainants, ensuring well-being throughout the redressal process.

Annual Reporting & Compliance

Submitting mandatory annual reports to the UGC and IQAC detailing complaints received, actions taken, and awareness activities conducted.

Complaint Process

How to File a Complaint

All complaints are treated with complete confidentiality. The Cell ensures a fair and time-bound resolution as per the POSH Act, 2013.

Submit Written Complaint

File a written complaint addressed to the Presiding Officer of the Women Harassment Cell within three months of the incident.

Acknowledgement & Review

The Cell acknowledges receipt of the complaint and reviews it for completeness before initiating inquiry proceedings.

03

Inquiry & Hearing

A confidential inquiry is conducted within 60 days, giving both parties a fair opportunity to present their case and evidence.

04

Resolution & Action

The inquiry report with findings and recommendations is submitted to the Principal, who takes appropriate disciplinary action within 60 days.
